This week Adam, Kat, and Nick correctly answered travel trivia with the Strait of Gibraltar. Now an open waterway, the strait once blocked the Atlantic Ocean from the Mediterranean Sea.
This ancient geological formation is a result of millions of years of erosion and is visible from space. Can you name it? I “Hopi” you can answer correctly!

The Colorado River is the reason for the erosion which created the Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon
Way more interesting is the tree in the foreground, a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine. Back in 1964 a grad student accidentally cut down the oldest of these trees, nearly 5,000 years old. So, he effectively killed what might have been the longest living organism. Oops!
I just returned from vacationing at the Grand Canyon.
