Plan Your Own ‘Tour de France’

The 107th Tour de France will commence this Saturday, July 3rd in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and will end on the Champs-Élysées in Paris on Sunday, July 25th. The Tour has sparked many people to plan their own European road trip this summer. The vacationers journey, unlike that of the upcoming tour, will not be on a small, hard bike seat in a race against time and others. Instead this trip will be within the comfort of a car rental in France, at their own pace, and the only time limits are making their room reservations for punctual check-ins.

The Tour de France began in 1903 and is said to be the most challenging athletic competition of its kind.  The total journey is close to 2,200 miles long through a varied terrain of mountains, plains, and cobblestone through France and a few neighboring countries.  The bike trek must be completed within 20 days, although two days of rest are given in order to keep the riders’ health up and fatigue down. Good luck and a safe journey to all participants in this year’s Tour de France!

Which team do you think will wear the coveted yellow jersey this year?
